Overview

Aim

To create on-line resource materials to support the learning of a diverse group of Ed.D students. These would complement the teaching and learning that take place in the course Summer school.

Context

The three tutors who devised the materials are involved in teaching both on the PGCE course and on Advanced Courses and consciously drew on good practice from both areas. In devising and trialling the two Teacher Education modules in a four module course they hoped to lay the foundations for the students' later research-based work by emphasising the primacy of reflective practice. At the same time, they needed to acknowledge the quite distinct needs of the current cohort of students from two very different backgrounds:

  • some Turkish students moving on to the Ed. D after completing an M.A. at Nottingham
  • Mature U.K. students who were teachers at a mid or late point in their career.

The three tutors hoped to capture the originality of face to face sessions and store it for later use

  • by current students
  • by future cohorts of students.
