About Us

ESCalate is part of the Higher Education Academy. As the Subject Centre for Education we are a discipline-focused team with expertise from across the diverse world of education. We work with staff in education departments and related areas such as educational or academic development units to enhance student learning in education programmes throughout the UK. We organise events, publish a range of resources, run departmental workshops, provide research and development funding and offer a network that connects teachers in education who are interested in teaching and learning.

The Academy is an independent organisation funded by grants from the four UK funding bodies for HE, subscriptions from higher education institutions, and contract income for specific initiatives.

ESCalate supports developments in teacher education, education studies, continuing and adult education and lifelong learning, and HE programmes in Further Education colleges.
