Aim of the day
You will consider what the reviewers are looking for from abstracts submitted; this will help you to write your own abstracts and also give an opportunity to consider your own reviewing skills and the possibility of reviewing in the future. The day is relaxed and supportive and gives you 'time away' to concentrate on the creation of high quality abstracts.
BERA conference 6 - 8 September 2011, Institute of Education, London - Submission date to be confirmed in November but usually late January
The 2nd TEAN conference 20 May 2011, Manchester Conference Centre - Submission date 21 January 2011
We have an excellent track record from previous years as colleagues report success with getting their abstracts accepted after coming to the day. While we give no guarantees, the day does give substantial time and help which will hopefully lead to acceptance of your work. If you are new to the world of submitting abstracts and reviewing we will be particularly delighted to welcome you - the day is designed to be very helpful for inexperienced presenters and reviewers. There will be opportunities for working individually or in small groups on your abstracts and for peer review of your ideas as well as work with 'critical friends'; you create your own agenda which suits your needs. It is expected that you will bring some copies of an early draft of your ideas or content of your abstract and a lap top to use. The day starts with some general hints and discussion around Writing Abstracts and reviewing for the first hour approximately and then delegates get on with their own work with the opportunity of being able to discuss with colleagues.
Please be sure to bring a draft of ideas for your abstract with you and also a lap top to use during the session.
