AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE
Building on our five ITE conferences presented for ESCalate, we
present your first Teacher Education Advancement Network
conference. We recognise the ongoing need for a dedicated forum for
Teacher Education research and scholarly activity and will showcase
contributions from colleagues from all four countries of the UK. We are
very pleased to announce that Anthony Finn, Chief Executive of the
General Teaching Council of Scotland will open the conference.
We are delighted to welcome Professor John Gardner to give the
keynote address to open our teacher education conference. John is
Professor of Education in the School of Education at Queen’s
University, Belfast. He has been engaged in educational research and
teacher education for over 20 years and is author or co-author of five
books and over 100 journal articles. He will address delegates on the
theme of our conference: ‘The Importance of Education’. This allembracing
title is deliberately chosen to inspire us to consider the
value of what we offer through our work. Particularly important as
always is impact on practice, and in our conference we hope to
encourage delegates to take away good ideas to use in their
institutions.
Glasgow Caledonian University is conveniently located in the centre of
the city, with easy access by air, rail and road from anywhere in the
country. The campus is modern and accessible and offers excellent
conference facilities as well as being just minutes away from shops,
restaurants, cinemas and theatres in the city.
We look forward to welcoming you in May to your 1st TEAN Conference.
