Organised by ESCalate, and supported by TEAN Teacher Education Advancement Network

This NTE event is for the post compulsory sector.  It is aimed at the North West in particular but does not exclude colleagues from other regions who might be interested in attending although they would not be able to be part of the research but may be interested in more general terms.

This event is designed for lecturers who teach on teacher education programmes in Further Education Colleges in the North-West region. It is designed for new teacher educators as well as those with considerable experience.

The aim of the workshop is to share practice and critically reflect on strategies for teacher education and our roles as teacher educators, in particular for those of us working in HE in FE contexts. The workshop content and format will be underpinned by a workplace learning perspective and by existing research on the role of teacher educator.

In addition to providing support for professional development the workshop is also the beginning of a small scale research project on the pedagogy and role of teacher educators based in Further Education Colleges. Workshop delegates will be invited to participate in the project.

Workshop Facilitators:

Pete Boyd, University of Cumbria

Paolo Reale, Carlisle College

Simon Allan, University of Cumbria

Christopher Spencer, Blackpool and the Fylde College
