Research Interests

Internationalisation of higher education; developing intercultural competencies; internationalisation at home IaH; health psychology; impacts of perceived stress on health and wellbeing.

Biography

Fiona began her career exploring her interests in psychology with a B.Sc. in Psychology and then a Ph.D. in Health Psychology looking at relationships between self-reported allergic symptoms and stress.

She specialised in health psychology, and worked at the University of Cambridge and the University of the West of England, on projects related to the care of patients with breast cancer, or a familial risk of cancer.

She began work at ESCalate, the Subject Centre for Education based in the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol, in February 2008, and supports a variety of ESCalate and Higher Education Academy initiatives such as EvidenceNet & internationalisation. Whilst continuing to work for ESCalate she is also working as researcher on the Teaching International Students Project which is a joint initiative of the Higher Education Academy and the United Kingdom Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) with funding from the Prime Minister's Initiative 2 (PMI2).
